To Pitch or Self-Publish

My first book, Kids in the Biz, was picked up by a major publisher, Heinemann.  I had a wonderful experience with the New Hampshire company and had two editors there who were passionate about the line of theater books and craft of acting references they had grown.  A couple of years later, my main editor passed away, and the company announced they were retiring their line to focus on their educational catalog. While it was great being published by a powerhouse in my niche, the actual income … [Read more...]

On Writing and Creating

My friend CC Chapman wrote a blog post last week titled "How To Be a Writer." In it he merely said:  "write." Simple enough, right?  But this one truism of being a writer has all but escaped me the past several years. Book Review: Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Years went by. In June, I decided to try a Kickstarter campaign to help with the costs of hiring an illustrator for the book's cover, but it failed when it failed to reach the required amount of backers. Feeling a little discouraged, I … [Read more...]

Help Me Publish a Book!

Help me publish my novel! A few years ago I wrote a novel for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and after years of sitting on my heard drive it's time to release it to the world. But I need your help to have a realistic cover design like you see on many of the science fiction novels. Please donate any amount to help me hire an artist to achieve one of my dreams of publishing a fiction book. There are several levels of giving and I truly appreciate anything you can give. You can use … [Read more...]
