I never went to Space Camp as a kid. Growing up, our family had several challenges, and flying out to Huntsville, Alabama and spending a week at Space Camp was simply out of economic reach. Then one day in July, 2014 I was looking for something on the Internet and happened to come across an article explaining there were adult weekends for Space Camp!
Immediately, I contacted my friend who used to work in Florida with the real space shuttles, and asked if she knew about the adult programs. “Go,” she said. I had already asked for two days off to attend a conference in Texas in August, but after some research I found there was an adult Space Camp scheduled for the last weekend in August, just before Labor Day. Finding that the perfect time, I registered and adjusted my time off.
The adventure was just beginning.
The pages you see here are some information and advice on attending the Adult Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. Whether you have always wanted to go, were gifted a reservation, or planning a once-in-a-lifetime outing with your adult children (or parents!), I hope this information is what you are looking for.
The web site for Space Camp is lacking in details about this particular camp, so I have tried to document some things I wish I would have known before attending. If you find all of this useful, please leave a comment and share a link with people you know.
I hope you have a great time at Space Camp!
