Google Me
The easy way to tell you all about me is to have you simply go to google.com and type in my name. I’ve written bios for every major social networking site, and they all differ to some degree, focusing on a specific desired result for that platform. That being said – here is all you want to know:
About Troy Rutter
Troy Rutter has launched successful community ventures for companies anywhere from multi-billion dollar entities to startups. While in Los Angeles, when the dot com industry was experiencing spectacular growth, Troy created the community division of Warner Bros. Online which later grew to over a dozen full-time employees. While there, he championed the use of one of the first commercial message board systems, The Ultimate Bulletin Board, and helped grow the project in both features and sales for the fledgling company InfoPop. He created and oversaw the community elements both on the Warner Bros. web sites, and their counterparts on America Online, overseeing community leaders (CL’s) in several different content areas. He also coordinated online chats with fans from some of the world’s leading celebrities, generating in excess of several thousand visitors to the auditoriums on America Online.
During the second season of the Award-winning television show, Babylon 5, Troy launched a grass-roots “Save Babylon 5″ campaign that coordinated letter-writing efforts across the fan community for the show. This letter-writing effort was credited with saving the show for its third season, and ultimately the show went on for two more years, sparking a spin-off show “Crusade.”
When the UK company FortuneCity approached Warner Bros. with a licensing deal to create AcmeCity, a homepage building community with licensed content from WB properties, Rutter oversaw the development, launch, and maintenance of the web community from start to finish. In late 1999, Rutter oversaw the production and programming of a proprietary message board system for Warner Bros. that allowed AOL users to sign in using their AIM sign-in name. This technology was launched for the official web site for Harry Potter and was included on the Platform 9 3/4 page of the site.
Going back to his roots, Rutter is the lead programmer for the video game social networking site, “The Gathering of Gamers” and also serves as the programmer in charge of the social networking site “The Hunt Zone” developed for hunting and game enthusiasts.
Rutter is currently active in Podcasting, blogging and almost every social network that pops up. He currently lives in Ames, Iowa and travels the country attending new media conventions and events.
