Who Mourns for Chris Pirillo?

I was born a mere 6 days and 30 miles from one of the most legendary geeks on the planet.  No, not bill Gates, but the incredible Chris Pirillo.  Sure Chris packed up lockergnome and moved to Seattle - who wouldn’t?  I myself packed up and moved to Los Angeles.  But unlike Chris Pirillo,  I came back to Iowa, and am now working a job as a web site programmer/designer - instead of raking in the bucks as a big blogger.

I should be out there with Chris and the Big Boys.  My net experience, and entourage of contacts, should have my blog in the top of the ratings.  But it’s not, and never will.   I even tried this morning to go to some of Chris’s sites for inspiration, especially his Silicon Valley community site, which I am trying to mimic at http://www.discoverames.com.   But apparently all his sites are down at the moment.  oops.

So what does Chris Pirillo have that I don’t?  Is it too late for me to make money on the Internet by blogging?   I don’t know.  I need to find that niche I guess… that is what everybody says.  Find the niche.  Easier said than done.  And so I continue the search for the Pirillo Code, hoping to one day attend Gnomedex and maybe, just maybe, make a buck or two.

Troy, I had the same problem, but it’s never too late. It just gets harder and harder to break into a niche or take it over.

I think you should stop looking at what every one else is doing and follow your own interests. It’s every easy to get lost and feel overwhelmed by news about other people’s success.

After a long period of searching and searching, I got tired of the Michael Arrington, Darren Rowse, John Chow, and Shoemoney, etc. All the blogging, niche, and making money tips did me no good because my problem was lack of motivation and interest.

It doesn’t matter if you go niche or what incredible niche you could take over. If you’re not interested in what you’re doing, you might as well not start in the first place so give up the thought of making money.

My blog is about WordPress themes because I like using WordPress and I like designing. I don’t care if I don’t get any money for it. Because updating my blog is a hobby and I do it everyday, Wpdesigner.com is getting bigger and bigger without any real goal or effort to push for more traffic. I have no doubt that it’ll allow me to make a lot of money very soon.
