The Start of My No-Plans Saturday

Ok, realistically I should be going to the theatre today to help work on the set.   And, I just might do that.  But in back-tracking my schedule over the past year, I realize that today, November 11, 2006, is my first Saturday “off” since April.

Whoa.

Whether it was theatre, renaissance faires, sword practice, or any other volunteer work  – my Saturdays have been booked.

So, I decided to sleep in.  Till 5am.  Fed the cat, went back to bed got up at a whopping 8:00am.  Ok, so it doesn’t sound too good so far.  And I still have a lot of cleaning to do today to catch up on the past week.   But I intend to “try” to enjoy the rest of today as much as possible.

Oh yeah, if I did everything right, you should see nifty social bookmarking links at the end of posts now.

New Site – ReviewMe.com

I logged into my email this morning to an announcement regarding a new type of revenue stream for blogs. Yes, blog and only blogs. It was an announcement for ReviewMe.com and it came from the same address as another service I use, Text-Link-Ads.com.

The premise is simple, almost too simple. With Google and the other search engines adoring blogs since they are constantly updated content, the idea is to pay bloggers to review a web site or product, and in term pay them for it. The payout is based on the site’s rankings at search engines, links coming in, etc.

To get things kicked off, they are even offering their newly accepted sites a piece of $25,000 in kickoff money. Needless to say I immediately applied and was accepted since the email indicated I was pre-accepted. So, they weren’t lying.

After inputting your blog, you will receive alerts when people want you to review their… whatever. The service, ReviewMe, takes 50% of the sale (ouch!) But even for my site that really isn’t too bad. You enter in your RSS feed, and then once you accept a review, you have 48 hours to post it and notify the service. That’s it.

And, the fact you are reading this, hmmm… they might just have something here.

To help avoid confusion, they are requiring some sort of disclaimer be displayed beside the review. So, here is my compliance:

A Croppy Part of Town

Friday a bunch of people are gathering to watch a production of “Don’t Hug Me” – the next musical and dinner theatre production at the community theatre.  The play looks like a lot of fun, even if the reviews I have read were not very complementary.  At this point I’m not sure if I will audition or not, but it should be fun to sit and watch it on a “big screen.”

Rehearsals for the current production of “The Bench: A Christmas Story” are going well, although the schedule is very, very rushed since we not only have about 2 weeks less than normal, but there is also Thanksgiving in there.

I’m looking forward to Saturday with no plans.
