What They Don't Tell You About Tag and Ping

A highly anticipated ecourse from Sean Wu premiered today, in what they claim contains information that could make you thousands or dollars and generate backlinks to your web site from pr 5 and higher sites with minimal effort. While this is all fair and good, what they DON’T tell you – is that the audience is extremely limited.

The most popualr site that comes up with Tag and Pinging is Technorati, and the list of the most popular tags can be found on the Tag page. When you tag an article and ping technorati, it places the blog post under that tag in its database, so that other searching for the tag will stumble upon your blog post and be led to your site.

And therein lies the catch.

Who searches the Internet via technorati?

I have spoken to both netexperts and netnovices alike, and they both say the same thing: techno-what? Now while I know what technorati is, a friend of mine who has little knowledge of the Internet confided in me that going to a web site called technorati would scare him to death – he just would not do it. So who is the intended audience? Mainly other people who are trying to tag and ping their way to riches. The majority of internet users have never heard of technorati, and until one of the major search engine companies gets on board with searching and categorizing content by tags, the only ones making money by tagging and pinging are the ones writing the ecourses.

Save your money, if you are truly interested in tagging and pinging, head on over to this site, which offers videos explaining the process for free.

Sorry Mr. Wu.

Some Signs of Progress

Ever since I bought that new scale from WalMart last year, there has been no faking the readout. I used to have one of those old-fashioned ones with the needles that moved from side to side, and you had to “zero” out with a dial before you used it. It was VERY innaccurate, and shortly after I bought it my weight of 210 was suddenly 220… but it was nice to be able to have an accurate scale, even down to the decimal point.

Yesterday I was a bit frustrated, since after starting to eat better, and exercise, the weight appeared to go UP (from 224.3 to 225) so today I was even more cautious after eating a salad for lunch and being “good.” Now I know things fluctuate, but this morning it was 223.2. I always take 3 or 4 different readings, and one went down to 222.8, but 3 out of the 4 were right at 223.2 – so that is what I was going by.

According to FitDay, I now have 91 days at a rate of 2.55 lbs per week to make my goal of 190 by September 1. That is a LOT. The “experts” always say to only lose 2 lbs a week to remain healthy, so I’m not going to push it. However, I anticipate losing more than 2 a week some of the weeks, especially at first, so maybe it will all even out.

According to Colin…

I’ve been approached by a few people, companies, and groups that would like to help us out with the diet – and I will be letting you all know what is going on with that after a few conference calls take place. I want to be absolutely positive that we are all successful with our diets, and that we are provided with the best way to do that.

Uh oh – just say “NO” to TrimSpa, Colin! ;) Just kidding – I think it’s great, and free stuff is always good. Keep me posted, just please, no TrimSpa, whatever3, Metabolife, etc. Free chromium picolinate I could handle tho.

I’d also like to welcome all the new visitors from the diet to the blog, I think you’ve single-handedly doubled (or more) my readership… could I interest you in My Book? Heheheh, shameless plus shameless plug.

So I’m not sure what lunch will provide today. I still have half of a salad at work, but I think a Lean Cuisine Fettucini Alfredo might be in order… save the salad for this weekend. Tomorrow I will be rehearsing for the renaissance faire (although I hoped to go to Scandinavian Days) so that should be the exercise I need. Sword-fighting class starts soon too which will be INTENESE.

Thanks Colin for kicking me in the rear. :)

Oh, and welcome Jennifer to FitDay! Woot!
