What They Don’t Tell You About Tag and Ping

A highly anticipated ecourse from Sean Wu premiered today, in what they claim contains information that could make you thousands or dollars and generate backlinks to your web site from pr 5 and higher sites with minimal effort. While this is all fair and good, what they DON’T tell you – is that the audience is extremely limited.

The most popualr site that comes up with Tag and Pinging is Technorati, and the list of the most popular tags can be found on the Tag page. When you tag an article and ping technorati, it places the blog post under that tag in its database, so that other searching for the tag will stumble upon your blog post and be led to your site.

And therein lies the catch.

Who searches the Internet via technorati?

I have spoken to both netexperts and netnovices alike, and they both say the same thing: techno-what? Now while I know what technorati is, a friend of mine who has little knowledge of the Internet confided in me that going to a web site called technorati would scare him to death – he just would not do it. So who is the intended audience? Mainly other people who are trying to tag and ping their way to riches. The majority of internet users have never heard of technorati, and until one of the major search engine companies gets on board with searching and categorizing content by tags, the only ones making money by tagging and pinging are the ones writing the ecourses.

Save your money, if you are truly interested in tagging and pinging, head on over to this site, which offers videos explaining the process for free.

Sorry Mr. Wu.
