Christmas Tree Cat Cat

I setup a Webcam so I can see if my cat is playing with the Christmas Tree when I am at work. Heh.

Here It Is

Tree for the Cat

Every year after Christmas I tell myself “ya gotta buy a new tree.” And every year I then tell myself “Why buy a new tree?” The one I have is my sister’s old one. It says it is 6 feet tall, but i can never make it go over 5. Before you get the decorations on it, it looks mighty awful.

I wasn’t even going to put it up this year because I have zero room in the living room. But I put it up in the 2nd bedroom. As Christmas trees go, it’ll do. It will be down on the 26th of December anyway.

Bah Humbug

I don’t mind the holidays, really I don’t. It’s just that people seem to get their nastiest during Christmas time. Maybe it is worrying about paying off all the credit cards they maxed out, maybe its the fact they have to see all the relatives they try the rest of the year to avoid – who knows. What I DO know, is I can’t wait for spring.

Oh, by the way, the mystery of the “I Farted on Santa’s Lap” has been solved. For some reason my Online Store is the #1 result on Yahoo for the terms “I farted on Santa” – go ahead. Check it out.

Weird, huh?

Reality Check

So it was finally time for me to break down and do the UNTHINKABLE during the holiday season – buy an “accurate” scale. I had been using a really, really old dial scale that I think my mom gave to me when she bought a new one. It kept showing about 10 lbs under the real weight, so of course I argued with the doctor when I went in for a physical… right.

So I get my fancy Weight Watchers scale home, tap the corner, step on. 224.

Eep.

Ok, so its not 215, and not even close to 205. But at least I know where I’m starting from. This past week some of my colleagues at work started “giving up” different things until the new year. One gave up salt and pop, another gave up “sweets.” So, I gave up eating out. Which, I admit, doesn’t sound like much, but when you consider I was eating out almost every day at lunch and oftentimes at night, it will be a substantial decrease in money spent, and also in consumed calories.

I don’t think there is ANY way to get down to 175 by February, thats almost 5 lbs/week. Yikes. But I’ll try. Tonight I went to the grocery store and bought a lot of cans of soup, Lean Cuisine meals, and some rice packages (never thought I would buy rice, I hated it growing up) and probably the #1 thing I would never, ever otherwise buy – asparagus. Yes, asparagus.

Don’t know why – but I bought.. asparagus.

I also picked up 2 boxes of Grape Nuts cereal at Hy-Vee because it was 5 for $10, and its the only cereal I eat.

So, little by little I hope to get there. Remember to keep checking my FitDay profile for progress!
