The Fantasticks Comes to a Close

We held the last performance of The Fantasticks tonight, and like expected it was a night filled of fun, laughter, songs and to some extent, sadness. Throughout the play we followed the characters of Matt and Luisa from young, infatuated lovers, through confusion and conflict, and finally back to being together. The same can be said for the members of a community theater I suppose.

Once you commit to do a show, at first you are excited, then there is usually a time of frustration, followed by nervousness, then happiness, and then again a feeling of loss when everything is done. Then, if you so choose, you start the process once again with another show. The choice is yours, of course, and one only you can make. For me, it was a very fun chance to be part of something that people paid money to attend, and that brought on a sense of responsibility to do the very best I could do. Reaons for performing vary - but in the end we wouldn’t keep doing it if it wasn’t fun.

I have worked with a variety of people during my time in Los Angeles, and I have to say the folks at ACTORS studio in Ames, Iowa are among the nicest, hard-working, fun and talented I have worked with.
