Poker Tournament for Katrina Relief
Last night’s Poker Tourney over a PokerStars.com (hosted by author Wil Wheaton) raised over $22,000 for those in the Gulf Coast. This was a $5 buy-in tourney with $4.99 going to the relief effort. Each donation was matched 100% by PokerStars.com which brought the amount to the $22,000 figure.
It was a fun tournament, but I was somewhat annoyed by all the people “sitting out” who were just there to contribute. I ended up outlasting about 1000 people, but didn’t make the top 1/2 of the cut I don’t think. I had a terrible hand and after that there were 3 others bullying the pot to get me ousted.
After I was out I went and supported Wil who was at #200 something when I left his table. I haven’t seen him blog on how he did yet, so not sure how far he himself got.
More tourneys are planned for Katrina and details can be found on the PokerStars.com Blog.
