Finding Time
This past weekend we started the performances for “The Fantasticks.” What I started as a “why not” back in July is almost over. That is, if you consider 2 weeks from tonight “almost.” Back in July I never thought it would be like this. It is a awkward time of the year to do a show, with people trying to get their last vacation before kids start school. But the last few weeks have been nothing but awesome. The cast has really come together and the show is really, really good. It has been such a great time, and something I am glad I had a chaance to participate in.
Yet, tonight as the sun set and temperature cooled off, it was nice to be able to just sit back and watch the sky change colors from day into night. To be able to watch my cat yawn and stretch as she fell asleep next to me on the couch, and to just feel … good. I had forgotten what it was like to simply have nothing to do - to be content. To be at ease… to be… home.
It’s a good feeling. And yet, when the peformances are done 2 weeks from tonight - there will be a sense of loss as well. I had forgotten what I enjoyed most about the acting biz - the people. While 3 months is nothing compared to the many years some actors spend together on TV shows out in LA, it does not mean the relationships are any less powerful.
It’s been fun.
